My name is Luis Moreno, Global Purchasing Manager for Aroma Chemicals.
How long have you been working at Ventós?
I joined the Ventós team in 2019, just before the world changed with Covid.
Although it feels like yesterday, I have experienced a lot throughout these seven years.
Tell us about your day-to-day responsibilities:
As a buyer and product manager, I am responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality products, both in Barcelona and across our subsidiaries around the world. This involves maintaining a strong supplier network and, above all, having the ability to anticipate challenges. In a world shaped by increasingly complex geopolitical contexts, being able to stay ahead of supply risks is what truly makes the difference.
What differentiates Ventós in the market?
Ventós ensures product availability close to its customers thanks to years of sustained investment in opening warehouses across different countries. This network allows the company to respond more effectively to market fluctuations and maintain an agile and reliable supply chain, aligned with the demands of today’s global industry.
What do you like most about your job?
What I enjoy most about working here is that you never get bored; market changes make every day a new challenge. But without a doubt, the best thing about Ventós is its people. There is a very young and friendly atmosphere that keeps you motivated.
I also really enjoy working with suppliers from all over the world and having the opportunity to travel and meet them in person — that closeness truly makes a difference.
Out of the 3,500 products we keep in stock, which one is your favorite?
Vanillin is my favorite product because it adapts to everything. It is incredible how well it works both in ice cream and in air fresheners, always leaving that distinctive touch of comfort and well-being.
What scents take you back to your childhood?
The smell of pine trees mixed with the aroma of the Mediterranean Sea has something that I strongly associate with holidays.
I grew up in Madrid, but I spent my summers on the Mediterranean coast. I remember that after many hours on the road, when we arrived and I opened the car door, that unique scent would immediately hit me.
Your ideal vacation destination? What would your perfect vacation be like?
I have traveled to more than 100 countries across every continent, and I do not like repeating destinations, so this is not an easy question.
I would choose any new destination, far from the typical mass-tourism routes, where there is adventure and little-known places that can still surprise me.
What makes you feel most proud outside of work?
Outside of work, my driving force is my son Hugo. He is three years old and represents the most unconditional love there is.
What is the best piece of advice you have received in your professional life?
There is a quote by Mark Twain that I really like:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.”
What style of music do you listen to? Who is your favorite singer?
My Spotify playlist is incredibly varied, but what I enjoy most is any kind of music where the guitar takes center stage.
Throughout my life, bands and artists such as Leiva, Pereza, Oasis, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Jack Johnson have been part of my soundtrack.
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or historical, who would it be?
Because of my curious mind, I would choose to have dinner with a great genius from the past to try to understand how their mind worked.
A dinner with Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking would be intellectually incredible.
What small, everyday thing brings you happiness?
It does not take much — just getting together with friends to share a few beers.
